This depends a lot on the work in question. You can see estimated turnaround times for different projects in our Pricing & Turnaround section. Testimonials can be produced from start to finish in as little as a week if the stars align, so-to-speak. More complicated projects such as narrative commercials should be given 4 weeks at minimum or else you risk sacrificing project potential and limiting the ability to add polish. The details are often the most important part.

Absolutely. In the proposal, the deliverables you’re receiving are clearly laid out. In the contract, these deliverables are owned entirely by you. Dak, along with experts and contractors that may service your project, reserves the right to use the material for marketing, sales, and advertising purposes. This, of course, can be adjusted if a project requires a level of discretion or confidentiality.

When you receive a proposal, it will include a minimum and a maximum cost. Once the contract is signed, the minimum is due before work can begin. Upon approval of the final deliverables, the remaining balance is due.

We’re good at keeping secrets. Dak is happy to sign NDAs and related documents. We maintain contracts with all team members, contractors, and vendors who work on your project to ensure those documents apply to them. For the sake of the FAQ, Dak’s process is not so dissimilar from another video producer or creative agency. What you will find is that it’s much more focused and personable. The team and I invest deeply into your brand, and that relationship pays off greatly. It allows us to work as one of your team and avoid adding to your plate in the form of corrections and tedious revisions. Technically speaking, my process is to understand your needs, communicate concepts and objectives, craft pre-production material that syncs everyone on the vision and intention of the project, execute production plans with little logistical effort from your end, and to assemble and polish the material into a final product you’re excited about. This is my technical process, but my *process* is to invest in you, your team, your brand, and your company. My process involves communication and intentional time spent understanding the particularities of each client’s story, needs, and potential. My process is relational. The work Dak will produce for you is deeper than my creative style and goes beyond the talents of a team of experts. The work Dak will produce for you will feel as if it was crafted internally with passion and careful awareness of brand identity.

The most significant restrictions on the complexity or scale of a project (including team size and capabilities) are timeline and budget. A dozen team members for comprehensive event coverage including keynotes, highlights, and interviews can’t realistically be assembled in just a week or two, though crazier things have happened. A company overview needing four or five experts across production, animation, motion design, and voice over performance can be put together in just a few days, but a small budget could mean we’re limited to a simpler level of production quality.

Raw footage, yes. Project files, no, in most cases. My team and I use a variety of licensed plugins, assets, and proprietary techniques that make it both difficult to share project files legally and undesirable for myself and the other experts that utilize those resources and techniques to better serve our clients. If you had us develop bumpers and lower thirds, we would provide usable project files so that your graphics package is cohesive across content whether in-house or produced by Dak. These may not be editable in their entirety, as some effects may have to be pre-rendered to avoid license errors and missing footage that may come from our asset libraries.
